Kima Enerson, Moyu Kim, Madison Mock - Final Presentation
Concept Statement:
The lack of seating was identified as a problem in the park. The proposed project would integrate the functions of seating and play. This would allow for various uses including play, socialising, and picnicking. The proposed project is a structure created in the earthship construction method. The initial plan includes two parts: a play wall and a dome. The wall would be constructed to reference the motion and flow of the river. The dome would use tires connected by a steel framework, serve as a climbing structure and reference local architecture. Local residents would be encouraged to help with the construction of the new area, promoting community ownership of the space. Based on the success of the initial design, other walls and play spaces could be created along the rest of the park.
